Special Called Business Meeting Regarding Jon Bishop’s Ordination

For the past couple of years, Jon Bishop has served our church as a ministerial intern while simultaneously attending Union Presbyterian Seminary as a student in their Baptist House of Studies. He is scheduled to graduate with a Master of Divinity this May. In view of Jon’s calling and gifts for Christian ministry, Pastor Noel Schoonmaker recently appointed Dr. Ben Brown to call and chair an ordination council composed of church members, ordained ministers, and representatives of other churches. The council examined Jon on April 12 and voted unanimously to recommend him for ordination. Therefore, we will hold a special-called business meeting on Wednesday, April 29 at 5:45 p.m. in the FLC Gym for the sole purpose of voting on the council’s recommendation to ordain Jon Bishop to the gospel ministry. If the church votes affirmatively to proceed with ordaining Jon, an ordination service would be held on Sunday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
