Sunday School
Classes for children, infants through grade 5, are led by committed, trained teachers who are passionate about nurturing your child’s loving relationship with God as they move towards a transformational relationship with Jesus Christ. They are eager to partner with parents to help children discover their place in God’s Story. Children, grades 1-5, meet for assembly at 9:45 AM, in the Children’s Ministry Building Assembly Room followed by Sunday School. Teachers will take children from assembly to designated Sunday School Classroom.
2BC Kids are a valued part of God’s Kingdom!
We desire to train children according to God’s word, as we rise in the morning, share experiences during the day, and go to bed at night.
Second Baptist Church seeks to provide an inviting, comfortable, and exciting atmosphere for families to raise their children together within the family that makes up the church, the body of Christ.
God is alive and active in families today, just as He was in families found in the stories we read in the Bible. Through these stories we learn that God loves us, desires a relationship with us, and has a plan and purpose for our lives.
Come and share the love of Christ, in fellowship with one another!
Wednesday Night Family Dinner
Join the SBC Family for Dinner! Throughout the school year, join us for a weekly dinner in our Family Life Center. The Second Baptist loving community grows stronger as families fellowship and share a delicious meal before they head off to Choirs, Missions and Adult Bible Studies. Dinner starts at 6:00 p.m. (with early bird arrival at 5:45 p.m.). $6 for adults (9 or older) $4 for children age 3-8. Kids under 3 are free (served in the kitchen).
Music on Wednesday Nights
Through Wee Praise, birth through age 2 with an adult, learn to become life-long worshipers of God and to develop their musical talents to the Glory of God (9:15am, 5:00pm, and 6:45 pm in the CMB first floor). For children, preschool through grade five, music takes place from 6:20 through 6:55 p.m. To develop sight reading skills, 3rd grade children may take advantage of a Chime Choir and 4th & 5th grade children can be a part of the Children’s Handbell Choir, all meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Worship Care
Loving childcare is provided or infants through Pre-K children during our 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services on Sunday mornings. Parents of preschoolers are expected to work 2-3 times a quarter. We will have combined Worship Care classes during Worship hours (8:45 & 11:00). At 10:55 we will combine children for Worship Care for the 11:00 service (please be mindful of the time and pick up your children before the transition if you are not staying for Worship at 11).
Worship Care Help
Everyone seeking to work with preschoolers, children, or youth must be involved in Safe at Second, the protection process of Second Baptist Church. Each individual must complete the Safe at Second Protection Process. The information is required to maintain an environment where a person’s past will not hinder the ministry in carrying out its mission in a safe, fun and productive way. If you would like to sign up to assist with weekly worship care, click here!
Special Events

Family Dedication
The commitment of parents to partner with God and with the church in raising their children in a Christian home is a time for celebration. Our Family Dedication Service is an opportunity for parents to publicly promise to seek God’s will for their children and to instruct them in the ways of the Lord, to teach them His Word, and to talk with them about faith in Jesus as Savior when they reach an age of spiritual understanding. Family Dedication is not only a spiritual dedication of the family to grow the child within the ways of the Lord; it is also a commitment of the Family of Faith at Second Baptist to become lifelong partners with each family dedicated. We commit to provide prayer support, assistance in Bible teaching and opportunities, facilities and people through which children can enter into a fullness of Christian faith.

Missions Education
Through Mission Friends, GAs and RAs children learn that God loves all people and that our church is at work in the world to help people with physical and spiritual needs. Hands on experiences help them learn that at any age they are able to serve God and to share the love of Jesus with others.

Children’s Choirs
For children, preschool through grade five, that opportunity takes place on Wednesday evenings from 6:20 through 6:55 p.m. To further develop sight reading skills, third grade children may take advantage of a Chime Choir and fourth and fifth grade children can be a part of the Children’s Handbell Choir, all meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Handbells
Handbell training is available beginning with the Chime Choir and continues with Children’s Handbell Choir. Generally, membership is open during the fall for children.
