SLINGSHOT Men’s Recovery Christmas Event
The Wellness Center, in partnership with Into The Neighborhood, is hosting a Christmas Men’s Recovery Event, called SlingShot, on Saturday, December 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center Gym. 2BC volunteers, along with volunteers from other churches and residents of several men’s recovery houses, gather for a festive day of pickleball, basketball, cornhole, cards, holiday gift making and wrapping station, devotion, and lunch.
Here are some needs we have for this event, if you would like to contribute. We appreciate any help to make this a special gathering for the RVA men’s recovery community.
VOLUNTEERS: We are looking for volunteers to participate and join in the fun and fellowship! This is an event to love men working through their substance use recovery. Email Jamie Mitchell to sign up as a volunteer for our next SlingShot event on December 20th!
DONATIONS TO HELP WITH HOLIDAY CRAFTS AS GIFTS: Please drop items in the “SLINGSHOT Men’s Recovery Event” box in the Commons.
- Any gift cards to Michaels or Hobby Lobby will help us provide the supplies we need for the craft tables, which are a big hit at these events!
- We need small bottles of acrylic paint with Christmas colors
- Any stencils for painting Christmas scenes or sayings
- We are doing a drive for any very small holiday decor (we will use these to glue them to other things…i.e., trinkets, garlands, ornaments, etc.)
- White cards with matching envelopes (4×6 or larger)
- Large glue gun glue sticks
