Second Cousins Senior Adult Trip to Montpelier
Second Cousins Senior Adult Trip to Montpelier — James Madison’s Historic Home
Wednesday, August 5
All senior adults (and anyone else interested in Virginia history) are invited to join us for a wonderful day trip to Montpelier, the historic home of President James Madison, located in Orange, Virginia.
We will depart Second Baptist Church by bus at 10:00 a.m. and make our way to Orange Baptist Church, where we’ll enjoy a boxed lunch together in their fellowship hall with their Pastor, Rev. Alan Miller. From there, we’ll head to Montpelier for a guided tour of the historic house, followed by time to explore the exhibits, galleries, short films, and beautiful grounds at your own pace.
We plan to depart Montpelier around 3:00 p.m. and expect to arrive back at Second Baptist by approximately 4:30 p.m.
The cost is $30 per person, which includes the tour and a boxed lunch (please select Turkey & Swiss, Cafe Club, Egg Salad, or Ham & Havarti). Lunch includes the sandwich, pickle, cookie, fruit, and chips. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the day includes some walking and a few steps inside the historic house. With two buses, we can accommodate 30 participants as of now.
To reserve your spot, please contact Patty at pdimowski@secondbaptistrva.org or at 804-740-7101 by July 12. When you call, let Patty know your lunch selection.
We hope you’ll join us for this special outing!
