The Well
Connect. Grow. Serve.
What is The Well?
The Well is Second Baptist Church’s 8:45 am informal worship service. In the Bible, a well is often shown to be the central meeting place for the community. It was where people met and talked, where visitors were welcomed, where lives were shared and refreshed. Perhaps for these reasons, the well was very often a place where God revealed Himself and renewed those thirsty for grace and truth. We want this service to be that type of place for you!
If you would like to meet with us in person during this time, here are our guidelines for in-person gatherings (we are not holding any recreational events at this time). Currently our only in person gathering is our 11:30A.M. Traditional Service in the Sanctuary, but you can participate with our Well service every Sunday here live.
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14).
At The Well, we want to participate in what God is doing in the world. We will joyfully and openly focus on Jesus Christ and proclaim Him as the sole source of our life and hope. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will practice honest openness with God and each other as we receive and express the reality of God’s Kingdom.
Well Service Teams
Connect. Grow. Serve.
Our dream is that every single person who comes to The Well would be actively participating in what God is doing at SBC and in the community – to be connected, growing and serving:
· Connected in vibrant relationships: first a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, and also meaningful relationships with other people at SBC.
· Growing in our faith and obedience to Jesus: becoming more like Him, experiencing the power of the Holy Spirit, discovering our gifts and expressing them.
· Serving God and serving others: at SBC, in our neighborhoods, at our jobs and our schools, and in our homes.

The Setup/Takedown Team will serve at The Well by preparing the Family Life Center (FLC) for worship each week. Every Sunday morning, the team will meet, connect, and pray before setting up chairs and stage elements for the service, and then take it all down afterwards. This ministry is a terrific way to get to know others, experience the joy of serving, and participate in what Jesus is doing at The Well.

First impressions leave lasting impressions. We want every person who walks through our doors to feel welcome and comfortable, to sense that they belong! We also want to provide useful information to newcomers and assist with questions about our ministries or facilities. That’s why our Welcome Team is here serving each Sunday. We are committed to providing an atmosphere where people can connect with Jesus and each other in a real and personal way.
“Hospitality, therefore, means primarily the creation of a free space where the stranger can enter, and become a friend instead of an enemy. Hospitality is not to change people, but to offer them space where change can take place. It is not to bring men and women over to our side, but to offer them freedom not disturbed by dividing lines.” -Henri Nouwen in Reaching Out.
If you want to grow in your genuine love for Jesus and for every person that walks through the church doors, we want you on the Welcome Team!

The Well Worship Team exists to join with, encourage and lead the congregation into the presence of the Lord, to create an atmosphere where the presence of the Lord can dwell. If you are a worshipper with musical gifts, if you have a heart to see others commune with the Lord in worship, if you believe that God has called you to lead others in worship, then the Worship Team wants you!
Each week, we meet on Thursday evenings for rehearsal, and we also get together for warm-up rehearsals before the service or event. It is expected for musicians and singers to attend assigned rehearsals. If you would like to audition, contact Hilliary Larsen for an audition form & more information!

The Tech Team serves The Well service by ensuring that everything sounds and looks great. Our Team is responsible for setting up and running sound, slides, and other A/V needs. You do not need experience running sound or using ProPresenter. If you have an ear for music or are comfortable with computers (Mac) and have a willingness to learn, we will teach what you need to know – both by observing and by doing. Get connected and serve with us!
