The Richmond Public School Literacy Initiative
The Richmond Public School (RPS) has invited the faith community to be a lead partner in their new Literacy Initiative!
According to recent tests, less than 50% of k-12 students in RPS are on track to read on grade level by 3rd grade.
RPS wants every child to build a home library this year to encourage a culture of reading at home. Elementary students will have access to books through new Book Vending Machines and middle and high students will have access through Book Bins on school buses.
The goal for 2021-2022 is to ensure that EVERY RPS student has a home library to build a culture and love of reading. We need books, lots of books!
Please purchase books from this list provided by RPS here.
Beginning September 8, please drop off books in the designated containers in the Family Life Center Commons Area, and we will deliver them to RPS! Thank you for loving the RPS children by giving them the gift of reading and education!
