SUMMARY:Hallway Art Gallery Project
DESCRIPTION:\n\nA New Home for Sacred Beauty: Our Hallway Becomes an Art Gallery\nI am delighted to announce an exciting transformation coming to our church hallway: it will soon become a dedicated art gallery, featuring The Testaments, a series of abstract expressionist works created and donated by our own Ken Walker.\nFor generations, the Church has understood that beauty is not a distraction from worship but an invitation into it. Sacred art has the power to slow us down in spaces we usually walk through without a second thought, turning a hallway into a place of quiet reflection. Abstract expressionism, in particular, doesn’t tell us what to think so much as invite us to feel and wonder, leaving room for the Spirit to meet each viewer in a personal way. A painting that evokes the weight of covenant or the movement of grace can speak to the heart in ways words alone sometimes cannot, offering newcomers and longtime members alike a visual testimony of our shared faith. By displaying visual art, we’re not simply decorating; we’re creating space for encounter, prayer, and gratitude for the gifts God has given members of this congregation to share with one another.\nTo give The Testaments the setting it deserves, we’ll update the hallway wall coverings and install track lighting designed to highlight each piece, creating a space intended for viewing and reflection rather than incidental glances.\nA portion of the gallery will also become a rotating exhibit space, allowing us to showcase sacred art from members of our own church, our local community, and beyond. This means the gallery won’t be a static installation but a living, evolving space, one that continues to invite new voices and perspectives into conversation with our faith over time.\nAs this new gallery takes shape, the current hallway decor and furnishings will be carefully and thoughtfully relocated to the hallway outside the large conference room to join our heritage display case in celebration of our church’s illustrious history. All these cherished memorabilia aid us in remembering where we’ve come from as a church, even as they, and the new art gallery, inspire our faith moving forward.\nWe’re thankful for Ken’s generosity in sharing his gifts with our church family, and we look forward to gathering together in this renewed space. More details on the gallery’s opening will follow soon.\n\n\n\n\n \nRev. Taylor Vancil\nMinister of Music and Worship\n\n\n
