Operation Christmas Child Christmas in August
Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes will be available in the hallway near the church office for those of you who would like to fill your boxes during “back to school” sales. The most appreciated items in shoe boxes are often those which allow a child to attend school: composition books, pencils, pencil sharpeners, pens, scissors, erasers, colored pencils, etc. Be certain to also include a “wow” item such as a stuffed animal, doll, soccer ball and pump, toy cars, etc. in your box. The greatest shoe box needs are for the oldest (ages 10-14) and the youngest (ages 2-4) children.
– Please click here to donate $9 to help cover the costs of shipping your box. Be certain to print off your label and attach it so that you can track your box. If you would prefer to pay by check or cash please place those donations at the top of your box so they can be easily removed and mailed onward to Samaritan’s Purse on your behalf.
–  Remember absolutely NO food products (i.e. no candy or gum), liquids (i.e. no liquid glue, liquid paints, liquid glue glitter, shampoo, hand sanitizer, etc.), or toothpaste are allowed in boxes. Bar soap and toothbrushes are a welcomed addition to any box.
– You may hold on to your box or return your filled box to the box display area where it will be safely stored in a locked room until the boxes are shipped out in November. An empty container will be available for those who would like to donate school supplies and other items for shoe box packing events at Second Baptist.
– Contact Cathy Pate at cpate@msnpath.com with any questions.
