Mr. Forrest White will begin serving as our full-time Interim Minister of Students, beginning September 1. Forrest has a deep love for the Lord and students, a wealth of wisdom and experience, and strong skills. He has served since 2013 with the United Methodist Conference as a Trainer, Missions Volunteer Coordinator and Disaster Recovery Manager. Previous to that he served sixteen years on the staff of Trinity United Methodist Church in Richmond’s West End. Fourteen of those years he was the Director of Student Ministry at Trinity, a vibrant and growing ministry. A native of North Carolina, Forrest is a summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Following graduation he was a newspaper sports reporter and feature writer before discerning a call into student ministry.
Forrest has led dozens of mission trips, loves to teach the Bible to young people, and has a strong faith and theology that is consistent with our Baptist identity. His references describe him as: dedicated; a great trainer and communicator; stellar character; highly engaged with students and their families; energetic; strongly missional; task-oriented; a great mentor and crisis minister; and servant. Forrest’s wife is on the staff of River Road Methodist Church, and they have two daughters and a son. His responsibilities will be the same as those of our former Minister of Students, with the addition of also coordinating our College Ministry.
Please pray for Forrest, welcome him, encourage him, and volunteer to help him in our Student Ministry!
