The CDC issued new guidance last week in view of the increasing spread of the Delta variant in our nation. The new guidance indicates that both vaccinated and unvaccinated persons should wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of substantial and high transmission. After the CDC announcement, the state of Virginia likewise recommended that masks be worn in public indoor settings in areas where there is an increased risk of transmission. Both Henrico County and Richmond City qualify as areas of substantial transmission.
Given the foregoing developments, beginning this Sunday, August 8, we are shifting our indoor church policy from “Masks Optional” to “Masks Recommended.” We are recommending that all persons, vaccinated and unvaccinated, wear masks while inside our church facilities for worship services, Sunday School, and other activities. Our Children’s Ministry Building will continue to require masks. Outdoor activities at church will continue to be mask-optional. These policies are prayerfully intended to help us move forward safely as we continue to worship God, follow Christ, and serve in the power of the Holy Spirit.
