As we have done for the past few years, Second Baptist will again be hosting the Richmond City and Henrico County Department of Social Services Christmas Party for children in Foster Care and their Foster Families!

When: The event will be outdoors at Second Baptist Church on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

What: We need you to join volunteers from other area churches to support over 125 Foster Families from the greater Richmond area this Christmas. The event will include stations sponsored by churches as well as a Christmas “store” where parents will be able to go in and pick out gifts and have them wrapped for all the children in their homes.

How: There are many ways to get involved in this exciting opportunity:

  • Purchase a gift for a child in care directly from the Amazon wish list that will be directly shipped to the church or purchase your favorite toy and drop it off in The Commons by December 5 as a gift for each biological, adoptive, and foster child in each Richmond City and Henrico Foster Home. The Amazon link can be found here. We hope each child will get a bigger Christmas gift from us or several smaller gifts. We will have children ranging from newborn to 18 years old and will need gifts for all ages!

  • Volunteer for the event! We need a lot of smiling Second Baptist faces to show hospitality and love to Foster Families, Social Workers, and Volunteers from other churches. A list of opportunities can be found on the signup genius here.

  • Give toward the DSS Fund to go towards providing lunch for everyone in attendance or towards gift cards for the foster families! You can do so by following this link and selecting the DSS Fund in the drop-down menu or by sending a check to the church with “DSS Fund” in the memo line.

Please reach out to Rev. Katie Vance or Rev. Tom Mitchell with any questions you may have or to let us know how you’d like to get involved!
